EXCLUSIVE: Doncaster line up Saunders as new boss

Dean Saunders is set to become the new boss of Doncaster Rovers in a shock managerial coup.

Rovers are bottom of the Championship with just a single point from seven matches.

Saunders is poised to replace the long-serving Sean O'Driscoll, who will go on gardening leave.

Welshman Saunders can quit Wrexham, currently joint top of the Conference, because of an agreement with his chairman.

Saunders wants a crack at working in the Football League - and Doncaster will not be a daunting task after his time at cash-strapped Wrexham.

Rovers have stayed loyal to O'Driscoll after a poor run of results which started midway through last season, but have now run out of patience.

Saunders should be at the club on Friday for the first time and will be in charge for the home game against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
